Hi everybody! N00b to hacking the Wii.

Alright so I'm a noob when it comes to hacking the Wii as I've always been a big fan of the Xbox 360 I've jtagged it etc so I'm pretty sure I can manage to hack my Wii. My Wii is just sat there at the moment and I found out that I could softmod it to play backups and homebrew so thought it could be put to use. I have been searching around the internet for some advise on what I will need to do to have the latest softmod but could not really find anybody in my position so I joined this forum in aid of some help. I posted a thread in another section of the forum but as requested I'm introducing myself here

    Link to my other thread:

Managed to softmod my Wii successfully today but because I was running 3.3E I couldn't use my 8GB SD HC card to backup the nand as 3.3E only supports SD upto 2GB. I was using a 256Mb Card I had lying around which obviously wouldnt fit a nand dump on it.

Just wondering would I be able to backup to the nand now, with my 8GB SD HC as it is supported by 4.1E now if so would I need any files on it because its just formatted at the moment with no files on?

Also now that I have softmodded do I need to keep any of the files on the SD card or can I just remove it and start using my 8GB SD HC? I'm wanting to put a backup on the 8GB card to play on the wii if I can do this how would I do it? I've seen the option to boot from SD card in neogamma, do I need to make a directory in which to put my .iso and will it need patching?

Oh also Gotega138, I used this tutorial:
It's really simple if your currently on 3.1 - 4.1 just follow it through thats what I did, only took me around 40min. Good Luck!
