Do i need to softmod my wii
I have a pal wii running 3.4e with an original wiikey 1 chip and i am a bit unsure as to what firmware the wiikey is running. Now i want to be able to play the latest games and my very limited understanding is, that if you have a drive chip, you can let the games update the wii, but will the latest wii system updates disable my wiikey? All the backups i get are pal, i have never got a ntsc game, ...yet.
If updating the wii will cause my wiikey to stop working, i guess i would need to softmod it, but i know next to nothing about that. What would i require, just the homebrew channel? Or could someone could point me to a good, easy to understand tutorial that would be great as i dont really understand what hackmii, bootmii, gheko os, wads etc, mean, I just want the minimum to run the latest games.
Have you asked the wikey people about updating the chip? I'll move your post over to that section (what I'd do first, if I were you).
I love this guide it's so basic any monkey could follow it. Digital_Monkey_by_MattMoylan.jpg
I love wiihacks but this guide will explain everything you can do with your Wii step by step, and explain in sections the different wads, wad managers, backup loaders, cIOS, etc whilst also dropping helpful tips. I love it. Just type 'complete softmode guide' in google and choose the first link. I am a noob also, but i've found this to be invaluable.
