2nd hand wii wtih HBC - acting weird
Bought a second hand wii and to my surprise it came with HBC. After turning on wifi it updated HBC and I've been trying to get usb loader gx running on it so to use games from a usb external hard drive. System is running 4.2E.
It won't load backup discs via normal slot mode or using neogamma either.
So I'm not sure where it's at. I loaded up usb loader gx and it came back saying I need IOS222. So I loaded up wad manager 1.5 to check what IOS's are on it. It says:
IOS4; IOS9; IOS10;IOS11; IOS12; IOS13; IOS14; IOS14; IOS15; IOS16; IOS17: IOS20; IOS21; IOS22; IOS28; IOS30; IOS31; IOS33; IOS34; IOS35; IOS36; IOS37; IOS38; IOS50; IOS51; IOS53; IOS55; IOS56; IOS57; IOS60; IOS61; IOS70; IOS222; IOS223; IOS249; IOS250; IOS254.
If I select to use IOS222 or any other IOS, Wad Manager immediately crashes. I don't want to stuf the HBC as I won't be able to get it back on from here as I don't have any of the discs. I also don't have a NAND backup for this wii.
Done hours of searching, but can't find out exactly what I should be doing (despite reading guide after guide).
Any advice appreciated.
do a syscheck post the results here
I've downloaded syscheck from here sysCheck + Bannerbomb (v1).rar but when I access it through the sd card menu it says it's loading and then does nothing. Just shows an unknown channel in the top left box.
I must be missing something? I'm used to the old 3.2e menu. Not familiar with 4.2e.
just put the syscheck in sd:\apps\syscheck\boot.dol and load it via homebrew channel
Ok, it's appeared to crash doing syscheck. Screen shows:
The system menu v482 is runing under IOS61 (rev 5405)

well seems the user only put hbc and bootmii as ios...check with hackmii installer if it also has it installed as boot2
you will need to softmod if you want to use back up loader etc
you can follow softmod any wii guide linked by peire or the guide linked in my sig
Thanks for your help. It's reading everything it needs to and using usb backups (well backing up now - haven't tried a game yet). I'll try and get more things on the HBC later too.
