    Sonic Colours

It is dangerous to approach a new Sonic game since the big blue mess SONIC the Hedgehog for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and SEGA really did not do any good with Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic Unleashed, either. Though the name of this new title sounds really cheesy and odd, the game Sonic Colours looks very promising and might be the best Sonic the Hedgehog 3D game since Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle) for the DreamCast/GameCube, or maybe even better.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I is a great succes and seems to be the beginning of a recovery of the blue hedgehog. EuroGamer gives Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I a 9/10 and IGN an 8/10, and there are a few previews about Sonic Colours out there already which all seem very suprising. Why does Sonic Colours looks so promising to me? Well, I am a Sonic fan ever since the MegaDrive/Genesis games, and that were the real Sonic games, where there was only one important thing: running, slowing down for a while at tough parts and then go at full speed again. I always thought that Sonic Unleashed was going to set things right after seeing the first trailer, but the Werehog levels really ruined the game. I thought by myself: ''SEGA... Why? Why can you not just create a Sonic 3D game where we just run around with Sonic?'' Then he is a knight, then he rides on a board with the ability to change grafity...but SEGA finally seems to listen to Sonic his fans. Sonic was all about running, and nothing else. Let's hope SEGA forund the correct formule for 3D Sonic games.

The name Colours refers to the spooky, colorful and little creatures called Whisps. Whisps are not only going to play a big role in the story, but also give you special power-ups. At first, it sounds like a failure again, but these Whisps really add variation to the game from what I have seen. For example, with the Yellow Whisp it is possible to drill through solid ground and explore new paths under the ground. There is also a Blue Whisp which makes you able to shoot through a very tiny part of a level in the direction you are pointing at. Of course, there will be a lot of other Whisps, all with their own abilities, but they are not really brought onto the screen so far.

What I understand from the story so far, is that Eggman is up to no good again and is creating an amusement park in outerspace to cover his evil plans. The Whisps are captured in this park, and Eggman absorbs their power so he can fulfill his master plan. What it is this time - I do not know, but I do know that Sonic will kick Eggman his butt once again and free the Whisps from the crazy doctor.

I am very excited about this game, and it looks very promising to me. Now let's hope that SEGA will not dissapoint me (maybe us) once again.
