Ok I am desperately trying to find out my system menu version. My wii is semi-bricked, so I tried Syscheck 2.0 thru HBC(newest), but after it goes into the nice GUI and starts the report, about 3 stages in, it displays "unable to load title list" or something to that effect and then BLACKs out (needing a hard power off to continue). No file is created/present in the root directory of SD card afterwards.
The reason I am trying to find out my system menu version is so that I can try to unbrick my semi-bricked Wii. I have a PAL Wii (LAH...) that I had softmodded at a shop in February this year. I know that to un-brick I would need to probably update with a same region game or update WAD. The problem is I dont know my menu version.
i suspect that it may have bricked when I played NSMB, tho its possible that the shop has used a JAPAN menu update, as most Wiis used in China (where I live) are Japanese. (I couldnt access system settings since they modded it.) I have read heaps of the guides on here as to how to softmod etc but I dont want to try a menu update til I know my current version. If anyone can help or give advice it would be greatly appreciated. Should I just update to 4.3e? then do the Lego Indiana Jones hack?
And what is causing the "failed to retreive title list" error in Syscheck?
I'm almost ready to take the Wii back to the shop where it was softmodded the first time, but since they probably semi-bricked it in the first place, I might be able to do a better job myself...
One last thing: Not sure if this is relevant, but I get a freeze when I try to access the SD card (blocks screen) in the system menu. I figure its possible that my SDHC card is not the best (sandisk but its a 4Gb SDHC and I know these are not recommended). The card works for most of the Homebrew stuff I have tried (wad manager, Bootmii). Could this affect the working of Syscheck?
thanks in advance!

Stripped the above post off of wrong thread/wrong section (SysCheck release 2.0 thread) and moved to the bricked section. Normally I'd not be so kind, but user has a brick already so no sense in givin' him a hard time.
try savemii/savemiifrii and it should tell you your sys menu, or you could try the any wii guide in my sig and do the 4.3u version, if that doesn't work try the 4.3j. You should be able to do any wii with those methods, depending on the region.
thanks for being kind Nightstah.
StmcMurray, my wii is PAL, should I still try the 4.3u or 4.3j versions of the Softmod ANY Wii guide? I thought that I would need a PAL (ie same as console) system menu in order to fix the system settings semi-brick.. Am I wrong? Plus I dont think I can do the SaveMii option since i dont want to buy the dongle and dont have a GC controller to mod. the thing is that I can still play DVD games and load from USB HDD, so if i can't do it safely I'm happier to use the wii without the system settings option.
Ok I have hit a wall with Dopmii after trying to do Mauifrog's Semi-brick fix. I can get to Dopmii (either thru sd card or HBC) but when I press A to continue (on the first dopmii screen) it shows a page of code with "error (dsi) something" at the top.
Is there an IOS that dopmii uses that i can re install? I should mention that NeoGamma Loader (the hulk one) works on my Wii, with cIOS ? rev17..
Any help would be much appreciated. How come dopmii wont work?
Yeah I misread your post, Pal is what you need, ex. 4.1e.
Yeah I thought 4.1e would be the way to go.
Still stuck with dopmii. Hoping theres still a way to do Mauifrog's Semi-brick guide. If I already have cIOS 38 Rev 17 does that change how I should approach the guide?
Also, is there a chance that SD card issues are making Dopmii crash? It gets to the intro/warning screen but no further. I would go out a buy a 2gb SD(not SDHC) card but I'm not sure if that would make it work.

Are you getting to select an IOS for it to run off of prior to the DSI exception barf?
I thought perhaps I should mention that I CAN play backups from the disc channel, does this mean that I MUST already have cIOScorps installed? Is that the only possible way that I would be able to load games straight from the disc channel (thats what I have read on this forum anyway.. If I do have cIOScorps installed would that change how I should do the guides? Should I do the "uninstall cIOScorps" guide first? Then the semi-brick fix?
Also a side note: I know I have had my Wii modded by a shop and then come here for advice, which is a bit of a no-no. I can only say that if I had found this site before I took it to the shop I definitely would have done the softmodding myself. I had no idea that this was stuff that regular Wii-ers could do DIY. SO that said, I ask for forgiveness and hope that someone might give me a pointer or two about which guides to do and in which order. I have tried to be as specific as possible so as to make the advice-giving easier.

Hey Nightstah. NO there is no ask for which IOS to use, simply the very first Dopmii screen (warnings), press A (or however u continue), then the barf.
Also two more things, I can run priiloader, and have bootmii installed as IOS. (boot2 not possible). Priiloader works as far as i can tell with the system menu hacks etc, but I can't load HBC from there, it says something about the title, I can only load the system menu.
Bootmii runs fine I think, the only issue there is that when I dumped the nand (for the Triiforce guide) and decrypt the nand etc I cant get the last step (zestig.exe) to work.
I have also tried step (3) Trucha step in the "3.1-4.1 softmod" guide. It does not get past the downgrade IOS15 step.
It sounds like a lot of problems but I'm hoping there is a way to get my Wii back to healthy and not semi-bricked, and that maybe there is a common theme to all these issues.
