Lightbulb USB Gecko is back, and it's better than ever!

It has been confirmed that USB Gecko SE will be available for purchase soon. The site for the original product, www.usbgecko.com, is back up, although it not much more than a homepage and support forum. There is a video explaining what will be added to the Special Edition:

    USB Gecko Special Edition
USB Gecko Special is a custom made device which gives programmers the ability to connect their Nintendo Wii or Gamecube to a Windows PC or Apple Mac computer. The device can be used for remote debugging of code, uploading and downloading of data and with an easy to use software development kit and API, it makes for the number one coder & hackers toolkit.

According to Wii-Homebrew.com, it will be soon. It will also be called USB Gecko SE.
For those of you who don't know, or have forgotten, USB Gecko is a developer tool that was discontinued about a year ago, and the site went down. There was a scramble for the remaining USB Gecko's, and the prices went up.
The original article can be found here:
    USB Gecko Revisited
Here is an english translation by Google Translator.
The USB Gecko is already in times of Gamecubes Developer developed and distributed. He is a USB adapter, in the memory card slot of the GameCube or the Wii purely to put the interface between the console and PC to act as one. This can then debug programs, look cheat codes, screen shots, shoot programs from PC to console to send directly, etc. Without this adapter would be some homebrew or not at all very difficult to only have been.

Nuke, the developer of the USB Gecko, 2009 left the homebrew scene and released the source code of the USB adapter. The official site usbgecko.com was no longer available and produces the device was no more.

Now, says the online retailer gamefreax.dethat the "Gecko team" had contacted them to let them know that they next 2 weeks, the successor to the USB gecko with the suffix "SE" on the market will bring in the:
The Gecko Team has contacted us to tell us that they will bring in the next 2 weeks to follow up their very popular USB Gecko to the market: USB GECKO SE!

The USB Gecko SE is an improved version of the USB Gecko and fully backward compatible. Accordingly, he runs with older applications, such as dignity, Gecko OS, Gecko.NET etc. The hardware is already finished. We have added some useful features. More details could tell us the team yet. New applications can be programmed at the moment and the SDK and the necessary documentation will soon go to the website usbgecko.com online.
How that corresponds to the truth and people who are new to the team, time will tell, but according to the following picture has at least done what the optics of the adapter:

Really? Nobody is even interested enough to comment?

I thought this would be a big deal to a lot of people, considering how many people were upset when the original USB Gecko was canceled. I wish they had said what features were being added to the SE version.

Touchy subject, may reintroduce reminders about no cheating as per site rules if the device would be used for cheating purposes

Sorry, I never thought about that. It is a pretty expensive piece of hardware for cheating purposes. I bought mine after it was canceled, and I had to pay about $70 plus shipping from Australia. I never used it for cheating (although I don't have a problem with offline cheats, just online).

It's an interesting piece of news indeed: I didn't comment because I had nothing to say at this point. When it's off the production line and being advertised at a set retail price I'll be more interested. I considered getting one some time back, but the price vs. amount of times I've needed it didn't add up.

Should be useful for developers. Would be nice to see some cool new homebrew.

Thanks for changing it. I am glad that the guy in video says that this is only a tool for developers. When I bought an original, but I have hardly used it, since the only thing I can do with it is pause games and take screenshots. I wasn't interested in it until I found out it was being canceled. Of course, I HAD to get one then. I mean, screenshots for a mere $70 was SO worth it. I would be a fool not to take that offer.
Now I wish I had bought a WODE or something, but I tend to want things I can't have (like a girlfriend ).

I have considered selling it, but once the SE is out, I will probably get a lot less for it, assuming it is the same price as the original. Maybe I shouldn't have posted this until I had a buyer.
