[Can't remember where I left off!] Need help making portable USB hard drive work

Well, I hope someone here can help...

I bought my kids a Wii for the holidays (yes, last year!) that came with system menu 4.0. After much research, I successfully soft modded it. I also loaded homebrew, and all seemed well.

I then started the process of trying to attach a portable USB hard disk (a Seagate 9SD2A4 500 GB model) and load games off of it using USB Loader. And that's where I got stumped.

It's been many months, and I can't recall where I left off in the process. I would love to get this fixed for my kids - my 8 year old is particularly eager to see this work.

Can anybody offer any tips on what to try next? I've attached my sysCheck file.

    Thanks!
    Samp

(Also, if it helps... my portable HD is formated for NTFS and has a wbfs folder on it with a couple games loaded for testing. That's where I left off - was never able to get the Wii to recognize the drive.)

    SysCheck info follows...

Well you started.... follow Mauifrogs Softmod ANY Wii guide. Then follow one of the two USB HDD guides (FAT32 in my signature or WBFS linked in the FAT32 guide).

Stop by the intro section and make an introduction, you will get the links.
    Damn I suck!!!!

Thanks for the really speedy reply... I just posted a thread over at the Intro forum.

So, do I really need to follow Mauifrog's "softmod any wii" guide? Isn't that part already done - or is there I step I missed? I'm guessing that would be something that could be figured out by looking at my sysCheck log (by more experienced eyes than mine).

Also, I just updated my original post to mention that I believe I was pretty far along in the process, but just couldn't get the Wii to recognize the portable hd. My portable HD is already formatted for NTFS and has a wbfs folder on it with a couple games loaded for testing. That's where I left off - was never able to get the Wii to recognize the drive. I thought there might only be one or two steps left before this works?

No you don't have to follow it, but it will get you in a much better state then now. You are lacking most cIOS. IOS 223, 249, 250. No patched system IOS which suggests no priiloader. Did you make a nand backup? probably not.... This is why I say follow the guide. Or you can search around the forums and figure out how to install all those things separately, it is up to you.

I recommend FAT32 for loading but if you want NTFS that's fine. Make sure you are using the LATEST revision of Cfg or Wiiflow, many older revisions do not have NTFS support.
    Damn I suck!!!!

I did do a NAND backup (months ago), but I've surely misplaced it by now... will do another.

I'm going to take your advice and read the Mauifrog guide tonight, see what I may have left to do. Will report back.
