Config USB Loader no longer plays PAL games after IOS36 rev8 install

    Hello. I have an issue with my own ignorance.. allow me to explain quickly;

    Problem:
Configureable USB loader played PAL games until I installed IOS36 revision 8. NTSC games always work.

    Short Story:
    -Wii given to me - $2 at a garage sale (3.4U - LU53)
-removed two severely damaged games from the drive... and a red toothpick
-wii works... except the drive won't eject and takes forever to spin up.
-manual eject (screwdriver and vice grips covered in electrical tape) works.. mostly.
-already bought games online... can't sell it now.
    -did the mauifrog softmod, darkcorp
-updated config USB loader to 60
-- All is wonderful and great.. -- ... and then...
-installed 26429_cIOS36_rev8Installer.zip (I don't know why.. it was a late night)
-PAL via USB no longer works
-reinstalled cIOS249 from ModPack-AnyWii -no success
    -tried.. something involving IOS15-64-v257(v523 too) / IOS36-64-v3351/ IOS38-64-v3867 - I can't remember (it didn't work so I didn't need to.. that's the theory)
    -revirginized via dogeggs method
-resoftmodded, same method -PAL still no worky
    -re-darkcorp-ed, re-updated cUSB to 60

I'm thinking that I should revirginize then re-softmod and at the point where I would normally backup my NAND, restore my very first NAND backup instead. From my limited understanding, this should effectively reset my system to the same point I was at the first time I backed it up... as in: before I ruined it. Then I can continue the softmod as per normal...

    Yes?

USB loader support was not added until the release of cIOS36 rev9, so any cIOS released before cIOS36 rev9 will not support usb loaders.

cIOS249 no use for usb loading. min i would use is 17 like narse suggests.
cIOS 222/223 ok to use at rev4 with cfg usb loader.
cioscorp made abit of a mess but nothing you can't sort - Regards

Yup.. I won't be doing the darkcorp route again.. unfortunately I have 1.1 installed and haven't found a complete fix yet. Checked all the links and did some more reading...

    Here is what I did:

-I updated IOS249 to rev 17 as found in the ModPack from Mauifrogs Guide - most PALs work now but Modern Warfare blackscreens after the 'Loading...' text is done, It also disallows the home button (and displays a little 'no home' logo when you press it) but doesn't disconnect the remote like blackscreens usually do.
-I found the 'IOSs that games use' list and updated the IOS Modern Warfare uses to the one found in the UpdatePack from mauifrogs Guide with no result.
-Revirginized via Dogeggs and resoftmodded via mauifrogs (third time is the charm?) to get as close to my previous set of IOSs as possible.

and... here are my new syscheck results:

I will continue to search for a proper darkcorp 1.1 uninstall but I'm not sure if it's necessary or safe now.. I think I need to find the specific IOS's in question and fix just them..
I will also search for the specific IOS55 that Modern Warfare uses and install that.

First of all, stop virginizing your wii. You are not helping of fixing anything by doing that. Second games from USB don't use IOS they use the cIOS. You have a Drive issue or an issue with the Rip/game image.
    Damn I suck!!!!

All of my games work again. It was IOS249 to fix the PAL issue and the USB drive was the issue with Modern Warfare. I had thought that the image was the problem in the first place and had replaced it but the drive has bad blocks. (Thanks Krank) It took a FAT32 format and diskscan to establish where.
Solution: the first game I write on the drive will always be a small (~1GB) buffer game to write over the bad blocks.
I have no more need to mod my wii but I've learned more in the last few days than I have in the last month.

    EDIT:
I spoke too soon.. I've tested a few more games and I think I'm going to read some more and hope for a Darkcorp 1.1 uninstall update in Ithians Guide. I haven't changed anything since my last syscheck and I'm hesitant to. If someone has a US wii that has been successfully modded only to the specifications of mauifrogs Guide I'd be interested in seeing what their syscheck says. That's where my system was when it ran everything perfectly from USB.

This is the one that is in his guide
[SPOILER][After completion of this guide, your wii will have the HomeBrew Channel, Bootmii, a Backup Disk Channel, a CFG USBloader forwarder, and a loadmii channel installed along with a cios setup very similar to that listed below. Below is a list of those cios, and an explanation to what they do for those that are interested. If you don't know, or don't care, don't worry about it as the info below may be over your head at the moment. If you don't understand it, just take assurance that this is how my wii is setup and how I think your wii should be (if you care).
