DVDx install error. New hardware or noob mistake?

Purchased the wii in May. Followed MauiFrog's 4.3 SSBB soft mod. Trying to play a DVD, but DVDx install fails on a 2011 error.

I understand that this might be a hardware issue, but wonder if there's a way to know for sure that I'm not making a stupid mistake.

If your Wii is new it won't play burned media. Also if you have HBC 1.0.7 or 1.0.8 then DVDx is not needed.

If it was purchased new in may of this year, then you will need to go with USB loading.
    Damn I suck!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to play standard DVD, not burned media. Is there a way to know which hardware I have? Would I need to open up the box?

If the wii was purchased this year then you can't play anythign other then retail GC and Wii discs.

Normal pressed DVDs will not work either.

Search Wii drive database in google, input your serial number....that will give you an idea but won't tell you for sure.
    Damn I suck!!!!

Sorry to revive a 2 week old thread but I thought that was better than to make another post.

ANYWAY question. This kind of screws all the emulators. Wii64 for example keeps demanding DVDx v2. What is the current work around if any?

use the dvdx built in to hbc.
wiiflow 2.2, wiiMC, hbc, gcn backup launcher 0.2, priiloader rev78, bootmii/boot2

N00b question, but if its built-in how do you access it? My problem specifically is Wii64. I try and click DVD and it says requires DVDx v2. How do I get programs to recognize it?

Install DVDx using the hackmii installer 0.6.

The app has not been updated to use AHBPROT support in hbc 1.0.7 or 1.0.8.

Should I redownload it? Oddly enough my installer I had did not include DVDx

nvm that was 0.8 will try now and post progress.

Ok I don't want to F up my current setup. How do I run HackMii without screwing everything up just do the Smash Bros Method again?

Newest version being installed prohibits the older hackmii from running.

Just put the boot.elf in any folder within the apps folder. Load it from your current HBC.
    Damn I suck!!!!
