No display But with sound...weird
I got a wii here it has No display But with sound...weird
What can I do?
Probably have to send it off to be repaired or throw it away, if you have checked all the obvious things such as cords and stuff. Lol, sounds like it is broken and isn't much different than anything else in this world that is broken. You could try messing with it if you like doing stuff like that, but iff something responsible for a video signal is broken, probably hard for the average person to fix.
Hmm...It has display if I used my pc monitor with the use of tv tuner/tvbox BUT no display in old regular TV. How do I reset or adjust the resolution so it can play in his old regular tv?
according to him it worked before no problem but when he updated through internet no more display. I don't know really. It's US and we are using NSTC tv here. Does update mess up with screen resolution?
It's already in Stardard TV in the wii settings but still no display in old standard tv.
I set it to Standard TV and HDTV but no display in standard TV. I have display using my pc monitor with tv tuner

So you're saying you checked to make sure it wasn't inadvertantly on component or wide screen, right? Sure the update was for NTSC and not PAL onto your NTSC console? You sure it was an internet update as opposed to out of region disc update? Does this Wii have BootMii/boot2 or nothing?
Edit: moved to the Bricked section, more appropriate.
Try component cables, also make sure its not been region changed.
the component works in my wii and its on normal screen.

Didn't check yet about bootmii but it has preloader.
what component cable again? I used the yellow, red, white cable. Hmm the wii is US and system menu is in english and 4.2U. Is there any other way check if it is region changed?

You never specified if component or composite, the color changes posted seemed more related or applicable if were component. You know, the blue/green/red wires that apply in component (as opposed to yellow/red/white which is composite) setups... we're speaking of video output from the Wii to the video input to your screen.
If you set the wii to component, composite cables will still work.
what is in the menu settings does not matter.
however, for some weird reason, wiis seem to break on composite and only component still works (i have a few wiis here like that, no matter what is selected in the settings).
I posted in another thread that i intend to fault find it, as i cant sell the boards like they are. I will share my results.
I only have the bundled composite cable. So what you are saying is that if I use component cable even though the tv has only yellow and red input, it will work? If I use a component cable on a standard tv with red and yellow input, will it work or do I need a hdtv? Sorry I need to make this clear before I buy a component cable.
What's your theory on the cause of this? Bundled composite cable was working, now it doesn't, that sucks. Is this a poor nintendo design?
