    MPlayer CE

    Latest Version- r600

    MPlayer CE is a homebrew media player for the Nintendo Wii. It was initially created as a fork of Team Twiizers' port of MPlayer, combining elements of MPlayerWii, GeeXboX and other great homebrew contributions.

    [SPOILER="FAQ"]Why won't my USB storage device work?

    First, make sure your hard drive is formatted as FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, OR NTFS.

    Most devices are supported by the library being used to provide usbstorage access, but some do not work due to various reasons such as noncompliance to standards. Such devices usually require special drivers to work and it would be an arduous task to track them all and write support for all of them. You can blame the manufacturers. Also some drives have a bad detection, try the following, switch on USB Drive, Power Wii on, Boot HBC and load MPlayerCE, and maybe the drive will have mounted. If not then we need to make improvements in ehci module etc. There is a usb test for you to try if you have a problematic drive, please report the result here.

    My USB storage device is supported but I can't launch Mplayer_CE from it!

    Assuming you are trying to launch Mplayer_ce from a USB storage disk using the HBC or similar loader and your USB storage device is supported by the loader but Mplayer_ce still won't load from it (even though you have already verified that all the needed files are on the USB storage disk in the correct places without any errors in them), then try reformatting the device. The problem is likely something to do with the file system on your USB disk. [/SPOILER]

    Playlist OSD problem

    Thank you for this wonderful media player! It does exactly what I was curious if the Wii could do!

    I do have one question/problem. I have searched this forum and I still cannot find an answer -- Maybe I am looking in the wrong places. When I create a playlist (In .m3u format) for .AVI videos, they play fantastically one right after another but after each one is played, the OSD keeps popping up telling me "Select a file: usb:/" and right under that displaying the playlist that I am currently watching.

    It permanently stays there until I manually turn it off.

    Although it isn't a huge deal, it does get a little annoying having to grab my WiiMote and turn it off after every video. I have tried everything from going into the options menu and switching the OSD level to "0", as well as hitting "1" on the remote until it says "OSD: disabled". But the OSD keeps coming back for revenge.

    Is there a way to make the OSD turn itself off after it's loaded the next video within the playlist?

    For further information: The Playslist file is on a fat32 partition via USB. The USB device is a WD Scorpio 160gb 5400rpm, inside a Kingwin enclosure. The Wii is under menu 4.1U, and I have all of Hermes IOS's (and many others) installed.

    Maybe you found a glitch. Have you tried to edit the config file, if there is even a setting there for the OSD? I don't think your HDD format or type of hdd have anything to do with your problem. If all else fails, perhaps posting at the source may get this glitch fixed. (MplayerCE, google code)

    Thanks for the quick response. I've looked into the "menu.conf" config file, as I assumed that's where the problem would most likely be but I didn't see an option for it specifically. I may have overlooked it.

    However, I did find this chunk of code that seemed to be significant for what I am trying to do:

    HTML Code:
    <pt name="jump_to" title="Playlist" auto-close="yes"/>

    <filesel name="open_sd_list_fat" path="sd:/"
             filter="list_ext"
             file-action="loadlist '%p'
                          menu hide" />
    <filesel name="open_sd_list_ntfs" path="ntfs_sd:/"
             filter="list_ext"
             file-action="loadlist '%p'
                          menu hide" />
    <filesel name="open_usb_list_fat" path="usb:/"
             filter="list_ext"
             file-action="loadlist '%p'
                          menu hide" />
    <filesel name="open_usb_list_ntfs" path="ntfs_usb:/"
             filter="list_ext"
             file-action="loadlist '%p'
                          menu hide" />
    <filesel name="open_smb1_list" path="smb1:/"
             filter="list_ext"
             file-action="loadlist '%p'

    Look at the config files for MPlayer CE v0.76 (MplayerCE v0.76 is the last stable release), there may be something in there. Go here for MPlayerCE 0.76. Please post in that thread, this is the downloads section, not meant for homebrew issues.
