Before connecting to the wi fi install the priiloader, there is a great guide that wiijohn made, search it with the search tool.
Hey, I'm new to this forum type of thing, so please bear with me if I do something wrong, here.
Alright, so the problem is that I can't play online with my Modded Wii, and I don't know what to do.
Details: There was a specific person who modded my Wii, and he told me and my brother that we could only play real games and games that we could buy from his "shop." I don't know what he actually DID with our Wii, but our games ARE working properly.
1. Did the the guy screw up our Wii or something?
What I want to know: 2. How do I get online with my Modded Wii? (Please include requirements and 1-by-1 steps.) I really want to play Monster Hunter Tri online.
Notes: There is no chip of any sort; the guy just opened up our Wii, messed around with it a little, and "POOF," it's a Modded Wii. My brother said he played "Call Of Duty: World At War" online and it was fine, but that was at my old house. Now my online connection with the Wii doesn't work, (I have NO IDEA how it worked before.) and I can't play online.
Do I need to buy anything to get online with my Modded Wii? Like, do I need that LAN Adapter thing?
If you just want to play online and do not want to access the Wii Shop Channel then go into Wii settings and set up an internet connection so your Wii can connect to your router. After you make your wifi connection you will be prompted to update, do not update, after that you will not be prompted to update again, unless you create another internet connection in the Wii settings. Make sure to check your WiiConnect 24 setting and turn it off.
And, the guy that modded your Wii, there was no reason to open your Wii if he did not install a mod chip, *poof* he pulled a fast one on you.
When you play "real games", never accept an update, if you do then your softmod will not work anymore.

Well, that's the thing, I know NOTHING about modded Wii's and whatnot. Are there any tutorials to teach me the basics of Wii modding? Again, I have no idea what kind of chip he put in my Wii; all I know now, (Thanks to Stomp_442, I learned that I DO have a mod chip) is that he put a mod chip in my Wii. I don't know what kind of numbers or letters are involved in this kind of thing... However, I have this sheet that was attached to my Wii, but I don't know if it has anything to do with the mod chip or anything.
Here are the numbers on the sheet (I can't read it properly, but I'll try my best): #Lu34232353 and then there's a box around 9. I have no idea what this means, or if it even means anything.
Is it my internet connection, maybe?
Or is there something I have to purchase, first?
If you have a wireless router, you can let the wii search for an access point in the settings menu (just be sure to say no to the update prompt). If you need to, you can buy one of the lan adapters, but all of this info and more can be found on the nintendo website and really has nothing to do with modding.
Could you explain what WiiConnect 24 is and why it needs to be turned off?
I assume from your previous post its possible to play games online with a softmodded wii running 4.2 is that correct?
Also, were you implying that on a softmodded wii you cannot use the wii shop channel? I'm an oldschool 360 scene person and would like to know if I can continue to use the wii online modded. Thanks
[QUOTECould you explain what WiiConnect 24 is and why it needs to be turned off?
Its the way the wii is updated over the internet, when it is switched on it could accept updates automatically and kill any softmod you have on your console!

Thanks, man. The only useful part was when you said it didn't have anything to do with the modding. xD
