    D2Pro and 4.3E?

    Hi everyone!

I have a European Wii with the D2pro modchip - bought it a while back and figured I might as well have someone install the chip because I'm too much of a noob myself to work with any of the whole wii-modding thing. Anyhow, it worked with no issues.
All games worked fine, and I didn't update my Wii because I heard about the whole "bricking" thing if I installed an update from an NTSC game or so - so I just didn't play the games the required me to update. Obviously, though, I couldn't keep not playing all those games.
So, recently, I updated my Wii online (to 4.3E, it seems), figured some of my games would work - everything went fine, and some games I couldn't play before are now playable. But a whole lot of games that were playable before are now not playable - I just get the "Cannot read disc, refer to Wii operation manual"-error. Note that I have not updated my D2Pro chip.

After messing around with a whole lot of games and software, changing the region of NTSC-games to PAL, brick-blocking the games, burning on different types of discs - no matter what I do, I can't get my games to work. What games are "supposed" to work? Will I have to softmod my Wii?
I should be able to play NTSC-games on my Wii, as long as I don't install any NTSC-updates, right? I shouldn't have to do anything else than burn out the iso at a slow speed, with good discs (Verbatim DVD-R, I've heard)?

I'm just asking for a little bit of background knowledge about all this because I don't really get it - I've tried searching around, but I guess I'm too much of a noob. My apologies if I posted this in the wrong forum or something - please point me in the right direction
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Kind regards,

Region free has been killed off since system menu 4.2

Ooh, I see. So there's currently no other solution than using PAL games or softmodding? Shouldn't I be able to play games patched by apps such as Wiigionfree or RegionFrii?
And there's no update from the D2-team that can help?

Thanks a lot for your reply, much appreciated! Sorry to ask this many stupid questions.

As of now, softmodding is the only way to go if you want to play region free games, no matter what modchip you have

Alright, thank you very much. I guess I was stupid to update - I'll try and softmod my Wii and see if I can figure out how to downgrade it. Thanks a lot for your help!
