    Gc2-d2b?

Hey there. Thanks in advance for any replies. A friend of mine has given me his wii to try and soft mod it for him. It was 4.2e system menu. I followed the guide for 4.2 and that went without a hitch, but when I tried to play my back up of Mario Galaxies 2 Neogamma had a disc error (1053). Is this wii capable of playing back ups? If so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely, your friend has a Wii with the new D3-2 DVD-Drive, which physically can't read disks that are not licensed by the Big N.
    He must use USB loading.

I typed the serial into wii drive chip database and it came back as 100% being GC2-D2B. Dose that one not play back ups?

That's odd. D2B DVD-Drives are supposed to read burned disks. What ciOS have you installed on his Wii? And which revision of NeoGamma?

Okay. ciOS38 rev14 should do fine.

How fast have you burned the ISO to the disk? It's recommended to burn at the lowest speed possible.
And what brand DVD are you using? Verbatim is the best brand to use for the Wii.

It was burnt at 4x. The brand is Maxwell DVD-R. It works fine in my 4.1 Wii.

Has the wii console ever been sent to nintendo for serviceing?
Sent from my van, down by the river.

Never quantify your life by comparison. It is always going to be apples to oranges. If you feel the need to always look down on others, you currently do not own enough mirrors------ Tommie Griffin.

    4x is a good speed.
Still, try a Verbatim DVD. You know, each DVD-Drive is different.

I have no idea if its been sent for servicing I will have to ask tomorrow. I was going to tell him to try verbatim discs. I really hope that does the trick.
