    Wiikey 2 - Update

Hey everyone..... i havent used my wii in a while so im a bit out of touch, so i want to clear some things up.....

I want to play SMG2 but im getting the black screen thing....so i started reading around.... i dont want to do softmods, as i dont see the need...

What i want to no is that if i update to 4.2 will all the games from my region still work (imcluding SMG2) and are there any other problems that can occur??

I have no desire or need to play games from other regions... all my backup games are PAL so i will never need to use out of region games

So will updating to 4.2 cause any problems ???????

It shouldn't, but updating through nintendo will actually take you to 4.3 and I don't know what that will do to modchips at this time.

It isn't that hard to do and it will allow you to manually install any ios needed in the future, as well as other brick protection. I always recomend it, after all what good is hardware, without descent software to run it.

I think he's refering to a disc update, the one that is on the disc. I don't know much about chipped Wii's, I would have a look about the hard mod section here, or even check the WiiKey website before updating. If I were you I would rip the game and block the update, you should already have the required IOS's on your Wii.

Indeed, if you want total control, better to have software that can do it for you and I know for certain that 99% of the folks here who provide support and have a modchip, also use the softmod to enhance it as well.

If you have an older Wii, them are the good ones, make sure to install bootmii as boot2 for bulletproof brick protection.
