Full bricks due to other causes can simply cause black screens on boot. Some are recoverable with a SaveMii and an autoboot disc, and others aren't.
Semi-Brick (Partial Brick)
A semi-bricked Wii has a small error in the System Menu. Once a Wii is semi-bricked, it cannot enter the settings screen. There are repair discs for semi-bricked Wii consoles, but not for those fully bricked.
Banner bricks come from installing a WAD with an invalid banner (e.g. wrong image size). With this type of brick the system will freeze after the health warning screen. It may also display a "System Files are Corrupted" error message.
Error 003 Brick
The so called Error 003 occurs when a Korean Wii gets region switched to a different region and then updated to 4.2 via the online update.
System menu 4.2x calls a new ES Ioctlv(0x45) which got added in IOS70 on other IOS' this Ioctlv always returns -1017.
If the korean-common-key is present IOS70 will return 0, which will then trigger the error in the system menu.
A Black Brick happens when the System Menu and its corresponding IOS are uninstalled, thus making the Bluetooth Module turn off, and freezing before the Health and Saftey Screen Shows.
Sometime your wii remote disconnects while loading hbc software. Make sure you followed ShawdowSonic2's guide correctly.
Sounds like you have no cIOS. Install cIOS38 rev 17 and Use IOS36 or 250 for installation. Then try hermes install again.
