WiiKey 2 installed, now not working after upating from a game.

Sorry for this, I tried searching but i didn't know what to look for.

I've had somebody drop a wii off, he said it's got a WiiKey2 in, and that it was working fine until he connected to the internet and it updated his console to 4.2

His Homebrew channel has now gone and it won't play copies, what's the best way to get it working again?

    Many thanks.

There is a guide by mauifrog to downgrade a modchipped console, but since there is homebrew channel installed already, I'm guessing someone has softmodded the wii and wasn't using the capability of the chip anyway, since it at least should still play backups. There is a 4.2 softmod guide you might wanna look into.

Yea, if I were you I would look into the softmod. It has an optional priiloader install that will keep the update thing from happening in the future. Don't know alot about modchips, but as far as I do know the 4.2 update only keeps you from playing out of region games, so some games should still be working for you, unless they were just using a softmod load method all along previously.

Yeh I've softmodded plenty of 4.2 consoles.

This is the first time I've actually worked with a console that's apparently chipped, I did notice the WiiKey hologram on the bottom of the console though.
