    No firmware listed

Bought a wii online and received it today, there is no firmware version listed in the settings menu, how can I find out which firmware version I have, the serial number on the unit begins with LU50 so I figure it must be 3.4 or so, is there a way to offically update the firmware without locking out the possibility of using homebrew. Thanks in advance.

PS-also can't utilize sd card because it does not come up in data management with whatever version of firmware this is.

Gonna want to get ahold of an ntsc retail disk and run the update from it to get it to some kind of system menu version, or at least to have one show up.

The disc update will put you at 4.2, but I would imagine bootmii will install as boot2 on that model, so I can't see any real disadvantages to 4.2 in this particulair case.

Depends upon what disk is used. There are only a few of the newer games that come with 4.2.

You were probably thinking of the official online update, which this person may end up having to do anyway.
