    Wii Semi-Bricked, Need Help

    I know there's a thread for fixing semi-bricks already, but I just want to get everyone's opinion on the right thing to do. This Wii isn't mine, I just borrowed it from a friend who has an extra Wii.

    If I recall correctly, the old firmware was something like 3.2-U. This Wii, BTW, has been hard modded, though I'm not sure what was used to do that. But it's hard modded. Right now I can't access the system menu because of the semi brick, I only get that Opera page.

    What I did was I used Tales of Graces (JP) on this US Wii, and yeah, I installed the update -_-. I did it with Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (JP version) and installed the update there without encountering any problems, so I thought that it wouldn't get screwed too. Well I was wrong.

    So I installed ToG, and I noticed I got the semi brick. I ignored it since when I tried loading the other games via Disc channel, it still works. I looked for alternatives to play ToG, so I installed the Home Brew channel and Neo Gamma r7 (IOS249 rev14) along with all the files that are supposedly needed to make Neo gamma work. And now I use it to load Tales of Graces and it works fine.

    I haven't touched the Wii in a while, but lately, when I try to play other games via the Disc Channel, at some point in the game (either even before it loads or somewhere in the middle of the game) I get the "System Files are corrupted" message. And now I'm panicking .__.;

    Should I just use this guide to fix it, and it'll get rid of the System files corrupted error, or should I do something else?

    If I heard correctly, Tales of Graces has a 4.2 JP update, but I'm not entirely sure.

    Thanks in advance to all those who'll be able to help.

    EDIT: I was thinking of using this, will it help? Semi-brick fix discs for all three regions (updated)

    Just follow my guide, it will fix your semi brick, it may or may not help with your corrupt file issue.

    Thanks, I'll try just that. Just a question though. This Wii was originally 3.2U, and after updating it with that firmware upgrade in Tales of Graces, the Wii menu now has the SD card icon on it (as said in your guide, those with the SD icon are 4.x), so should I just follow the guide assuming that it is currently on a 4.x firmware?

    About the System files corrupted issue, I remember one time wherein I tried to install Preloader, but was unsuccessful due to something... I do remember trying to install other IOS that time. Could that have been the cause? If so, is there a way to fix it?

    EDIT: I've tried it and it WORKED! It also fixed the System files corrupted error too! Thank you so much!

    I'm having a similar problem with Tales of Graces, even though I never installed an update. From a DVD, it will load a few logos before loading a black screen. From USB, it just loads a black screen right away. I tried to load NSMB to see if that would fix it, but now my NSMB won't load anymore. I'm not sure why it won't load because I followed the guide here but now I can't play NSMB OR ToG =/
