    Wii Stand Modifications

This thread is for stand mods more than case mods. I'd be interested to hear what ideas people have for custom stands. I am currently working on a stand that will include a self-powered usb 7 port hub for the many Wii usb accessories on the market. This will also include a better vent than the stock stand, and might also include it's own fan for superior airflow.
I am also working on another stand for those who keep their Wiis horizontal. It will have the same usb hub as well as a storage area for an external drive(s).
Pics will follow when I have them.

That fancy Wii stand wouldn't be complete without lights that match the lights on the Wii.

Before you integrate that 7-port usb hub, be safe and test it out first, the Wii has compatibility issues with USB hubs. Nintendo support only recommends a externally powered premium Logitech USB Hub, but others may work. I saw a nice Belkin usb hub with an external power source I wouln't mind getting.

Nice idea, did you have to use an outside source power all 7 usb ports? or did you just draw power from the wii?

I read that as well before too.... and I am sure there are some out there that do not work, however big N has exaggerated on this. i got 2 good $60 name brand usb hubs that work fine for wii, and my off brand POS branded usb hubs work fine too, in fact all 5 i have tried have worked. I even got this $8 dollar 4port mini usb hub that is for laptops only (i.e. no external power supply on it) and was surprised to see that even that worked

so dont quote me im sure not every kind works.... but if you got some layin around try em out before buying one you will prob be quite surprised as I was. I had 5 so figured a least 1 or 2 would work, espically the good ones. but to see the old cheapo radioshack brand crap work really made my day
