Noob having problems installing games with USB Loader GX (4.2 Wii)
Hello, I have been having problems getting my softmodded Wii to work properly. I followed the guide found here, and to the best of my knowledge, everything installed correctly with no errors. Homebrew channel works fine. There are no issues with the software that I am aware of.
My problem lies in using USB Loader GX to install a game from a Wii disk. I am using an 8GB (Dane Elec) USB thumb stick to test, formatted with WBFS Manager 3.0. I had the thumb drive in the correct USB port, and opened up the USB Loader GX channel from the Wii menu. I inserted my test disc (Wii Sports) and the program asked if I wanted to install the game. I click yes, and I can see a menu flash by without giving me an opportunity to choose an option, it then asks me to confirm that I want to install the game, tells me the file size/etc, I click yes, and the drive lights up blue and it seems to be doing what it needs to do, only all of the buttons on the GUI disappear, all I can see is the "wallpaper" of the program. The music is still going, so I figure why not give it a while, maybe it is working in the background. Nope, I gave it an hour or so, and it stayed there unchanged. I had to hard reset the Wii. I tried it again a couple of times with the exact same result. There was no error message at all, it was just hanging there with the music playing, with no menu buttons showing.
Has anyone run into this problem? Is there anyone out there who can help me solve this issue? I am worried that I am going to blow up my Wii!
Hopefully I was clear enough in my description.
Thank you for the help.

I am glad you think it is "trying" to work, I was prepared for an answer like "Yeah, your Wii is dead."
Download a wad version from the previous link I gave you. Place it on your SD card in the /wads folder. Launch wad manager on the Wii with your SD card in it. Select source as SD card and then from within wad manager, navigate to the /wad folder and then install it. Again, if it does the same thing try an older version... of late reports of bugs have surfaced. Mine's an older version from around December and works "as advertised" with regard to the feature you seek.

Thank you for the reply. I was able to go from the r907.wad to r900.wad version. I tried to install a game with the new version, and got the exact same result. The buttons disappear, and all I see is the "background" of the program. Is there anything else I could try to solve this issue?
Hmm, well today I tried to be creative to solve the problem. I tried copying a Wii .ISO to the memory stick with WBFS manager. It looked like it was going well until I got an error that says there was a problem with parts of the ISO file. Could it be that my memory stick isn't supported? Or should I try a different ISO file?
Since making the last post, I have tried numerous times to load a variety of games, some through USB Loader GX, and some on my PC through WBFS Manager. Both methods failed to work.
The USB Loader GX result was unchanged: Buttons on the screen disappeared, causing the Wii to "hang." It wasn't fully frozen, but I couldn't see any menus or buttons, and could not leave this screen.
The games transferred to my 8GB thumb drive perfectly with WBFS Manager. I went into USB Loader GX, and the menu showed the title of the game I loaded, but if I selected it, the title would disappear, and once again, the Wii would hang on the screen. So I can not load games installed from my PC with WBFS Manager either.
This leads me to believe that some files did not install properly! I followed the turorial 100%, and everything seemed to work as it is described. The only thing I can recall that I had to try a few times was what (I think) was a -1 error. I tried the same steps a over a few times, and then it worked fine.
Is anyone able to help me sort this out? I don't really have the experience to explain the problems in more detail, but if it would be helpful I can make a video of what is happening.

blacks sreen or just a hang?
No black screen, the Wii just doesn't do anything. Buttons do not respond, the only thing I can do is turn off the Wiimote.
