Argon and firmware 4.2
I have 2 years old Wii with Argon chip. Current firmware is 3.4e. Is it safe to upgrade it to 4.2e?
Anybody tried that and Wii is still working? I don't use any soft mods, homebrew...
Thanks for answer in advance, ValF
Well the Wii should still work but if the Argon has region free abilitys they won't work any longer as Nintendo killed out of region loading with the 4.2 firmware.
The crappy Infectus team hasn't released any update to fix the BCA protection, they simply abandonded the Argon and moved to the D-right...There is no reason updating to 4.2 , since the games needing 4.2 are BCA protected
Could you provide some proof of this or are you submitting false info based on your own assumptions?

They said on the italian part of the forum that they wouldn't bother with neither the Argon 1 nor Argon 2
As for the games, take a look at the big titles that have been released...Red Steel 2 has BCA, Monster Hunter Tri has BCA
There may be a few new games not BCA protected, but the majority sure is and the future won't be any different
Wheres the proof?
Red steel 2 and Monster Hunter 3 DON'T HAVE BCA and there is currently no proof that they do and the only game that has been released at the time of this post with BCA is New Super Mario Bros. Wii and so if you wish to make a counter argument I advise you get some evidence.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm i see this getting out of control fast......
@Stom: I would not badmouth the mod/hack teams that enable you to play backup games on your wii... Does not make any sense.... Also FAVS knows what he is talking about and i can confirm that NSMB is the only game with BCA.... also here is a third senior members thread about BCA games....
@OP: Im sorry that this thread was hijacked and gone off on another subject.... I would not update to 4.2.... I would also say venture to the Softmod section of the forum and if you need any help please feel free to contact me (AGAIN ONLY OP CAN PM ME)
Nice, Emuhack --- darn proud of ya --- laid it out and very diplomatic --- I like!
