Wii Console Receives Price Cut in New Zealand and Australia

    Wii Price drop for Australia

Nintendo has slashed $100 off the price of the Wii in Australia - starting tomorrow.
Tomorrow, the Wii will receive a price drop of $100 here in Australia and New Zealand, bringing the price down to $299AU and $499NZ. This is the first time the Wii has received a price drop since its launch in December 2006 and closely mimics the drop the US received late last year.

Both the Black and White colours are now at the lower price point. With the Xbox 360 Elite dropping to the $399 price point (with games), it had to come eventually.

Nintendoís press release now tells us that there are 1.79 million Wii consoles out there in Australia. Thatís 10 times more Wiiís than GameCubes that were ever sold.
"I think that the Wii is a beautiful piece of hardware, and a broken Wii is a tragedy. It doesnít matter why or how." -- Bushing
