Unhappy Wasabi: Trying to get USB HDD to work

    Hi!

Fairly new here, I've tried a bunch of HOWTO's to solve my problem:

I have a fairly old Wii with a Wasabi Zero installed. I have IOS 4.2E, and am playing happily with this.
Since my stock of DVD's is about to run out, and I am too lazy/cheap to get new ones, I am trying to get USB HDD loading to work, but I cannot get past installing the cIOS.

I've been using the Hack Pack 4.2, downloaded from a link in he forums, and have the HomeBrew Channel installed using this software. Next step, according to three guides so far, is installing the cIOS, and this is confirmed by the USB Loader app: It won't run because it cannot find a cIOS.

The cIOS installer starts up, and I can choose a version. I choose IOS249, and both the installer from Hermes and cIOS38_rev14Installer just sit there after I press the "OK, flash my Wii now!" button. Wiimotes are powered off due to no BT connection, and only the power-off button helps me, taking me back to my default Wii screen.

Can anyone give me some hints/tips on how to move along, to get some kind of USB HDD loading to work? Would be grand!

I am now following http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...tem-menus.html, and from what you were saying, I am running into the issue described in part B?

I was under the impression that Bootmii wasn't needed on hardmodded systems, but maybe that impression was wrong?

strictly speaking bootmii is not needed at all in the soft mod process but is adviseable as if it is store as boot2 it can recover from 99% of bricks. If u wish to play from usb loader u must follow the whole guide from start to finish without missing any steps. If u run in to trouble post your question in the thread that u are following for the best advice.
