    Buying new wii

im buying a new wii and it will most likely be loaded with 4.2 system menu, and i want to play from either my portable external hdd or dvd-r's, i know some dvd-r's wont work, and is it okay if you have other stuff on your external hdd etc. I also heard something lu64+ serial, so im gonna to the store and check for serials below lu 64+ but where do i check (btw will bannerbomb work for lu64+, and what other homebrew would i need for external hdd, btw im a newbie, but i've checked it out find a couple of tuts but im just verifying)

i'LL DO MY BEST TO REPLY TO THIS ONE... first If you are going to the store to buy a new WII... chances are it will have the new Niintendo Chip which will prevent you from being able to read any copy of any game on any dvdr+ or-. So your best bet is: 1. to buy the WII 2. Install the internet connection (DON'T ACCEPT TO DO THE UPDATE THAT WILL POP UP RIGHT AFTER IT HAS TESTED THE CONNECTION) 3. Softmod your wii using messie's guide or Sonic's guide (which ever you prefer) 4. Buy an external hard drive (mine is a 250gb formatted in wbfs) 5. Use wbfs manager 3.0 to format the hdd and to put games on it. 6. play games until your fingers, arms or whatever part of your body hurts.

If you follow the right guides on here you will be able to softmodd any wii on the planet. Good luck trying to find a serial lower than Lu64 in the stores. If you partition your drive properly you can have other stuff on it. There guides for that on here too.

USB is the only way to connect an HDD to the wii and they are not all compatible. If you do a little searching on here yo'll find a link to a list of compatible drives. Western DIgital seems to be the most compatible brand, if I find that link I`ll post it.

Thumb drive will work fine. No it won't be to "slow".

You won't get many games on it though.
