    Semi Bricked

I have a modified Wii that is semi bricked where I cannot get rid of the Japanese weather and news icon.
It connects to the internet but those channels are not working.
I downloaded the wii-system-menu-update-USA-v289.iso and the wii would not read it.
I tried several different ways to burn it and still kept getting the black screen telling me the file is corrupt.
    Can anyone please help.

I can play all my games and get to the Wii Settings menu.
downloaded the USA version of the fixes and when I put the DVd in the Wii I get an error message.Black Screen file is corupted in white and remove disc and restart and power off Wii.
Also I got another message that said consult owners manual and remove disc and shut off and restart unit.

Maybe the image is corrupt try redownloading it from the link I gave above then burn it using ImgBurn at 4x speed on DVD-R preferrably Verbatim, Sony or TDK.

Also it could be that your wii is at 3.3U (assuming you have a USA Wii) in which case it probably won't read the disc in which case you can try using GeckoOS to try to load the disc.

You would need Homebrew channel to load/use Gecko OS which in turn will let you load the Trucha signed disc, ie the Semi Brick fix disc.

Here is guide to load Homebrew channel if you don't already have it installed
    http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew/457...ers-guide.html

    Gecko OS info:

    GeckoOS - WiiBrew

Gecko OS & USB Gecko - USB Gecko Forums

Also did you read the info in the links I provided.

I think you have the duplicate channel problem that happens when you boot many out of region games or install different updates. This should help you a lot, since it is made for this purpouse: Duplicate Channel Remover - WiiBrew

I hope this works for you!

Have you tried downloading the updated file wii-system-menu-update-USA-v289_repad.iso? I've fixed a semi-brick much like yours with it.
