    URGENT quick question

ok so i had a nightmarish time with my d2e wii and d2pro9.
    refer to this thread :
basically i had the 'inching' problem and i couldn't fix it.

    so here is the question.
my friend bought a wii a few days before me and he's not gonna mod it.. so he offered to exchange his with mine.
his wii serial number is LU356430056 and according to wii tracker, it says:
There is a 50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C
There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut.

ok so here is the real question :
if i do exchange it, and install my mod chip (which is d2pro9 with blue sticker that says d2e compatible), will i still have the inching problem?

i'm so damn confused with all these various versions and what not since i'm completely new to wii.
    please help me out.

and what the hell does this mean? "There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut."

If it is a D2C, then update the firmware on the chip to v2.3 with the D2Prog (because your new drive isn't a D2E) and it will run like magic. You won't need to solder anything.

You were using a WiiClip right? Then the v4c (the D2Pro 9-wire compatible WiiClip revision) works on either cut or non-cut pins, so you don't need to worry about that.

You WILL need to update the D2Pro's firmware though to stop the inching.

but i don't have the d2prog?? what is it???

Have the place you bought the chip from upgrade it for you. Any reputable place won't charge for something like that.

The new firmware can be downloaded from the d2pro website and burnt onto a dvd and then upgraded this way if you dont have access to the d2prog

The Update via DVD will only update the SPI Flash to 1.6, Actel H/W update still requires the D2Prog for updating it to 2.3.

not to mention that if its giving the inching problem it may also never give him the chance to ever load the dvd.

I wonder, would you be willing to part with your dvd drive for another ? It could be something that needs to be tested that could fix things for a lot of people having that issue. I will talk to my partners and see if its a possibility

Depending on where you are, you can send it in for a nominal charge to have it upgraded/soldered - ultimately fixed.
You are more than welcome to send it to me if you are in Canada, or take it back to your reseller (probably cheaper)
If necessary the d2pro can be swapped out for a wasabi which will work on your d2e without having to swap wii's

There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E.
And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2B (no cut pins or missing pad).

For me it will be D2E if is really new...
