    Firmware update on games? How to know if it's your region?

    Hi everyone! I finally got my chip in and going, but when I made a "copy" of Big Brain, an update message showed up on the disc channel. I know my wii might brick if the game is not the same region, but I don't know how to tell what region my game is. I am on a Mac, so I used WiiJunkies to burn the iso. It gave me the option of changing the region, which I did, but I REALLY don't want to take any chances with bricking. Does anyone know how to check (on a mac) what the region is?

    Also, I tried loading via GeckoOS, but it starts to act really strangely and won't work. The screen circles around and around and I eventually have to restart my wii.

    And I also don't understand why the update doesn't show up for any of my other games. Can I do the update (3.3u) with no game in the Wii and then run Big Brain?? Thank you guys so much for your help! I would be lost without this place!!!

    I don't know about Mac, but on PC you can use Wiu1.1 or Wum and it will show if the iso is NTSC-U, NTSC-J or PAL. You can also use those tools to remove the update from the iso before buring so would not get the update prompt. Best practice is to always to update from the Wii Settings menu.

    and if you update from the wii menu, the game wont bug you anymore, as you will be up to date.

    Ok, I think I found something for the Mac that will remove updates and can also Region patch.

    So it's always recommended to update from Wii Settings?

    Have anyone encountered problems loading specific titles only (newer ones such as Tiger Woods, etc) but not the older ones like Mario Kart, Wii Sports?

    I seem to encounter that problem after 3.3u

    or you can use the most logical
    Multi 5 = Pal
    japanese = NTSC/J
    rest = NTSC/U
    when you see a download youll know
