Thread: Which cIOS38 rev is the best/safest to use?

Which cIOS38 rev is the best/safest to use?

I have been reading up on the different revisions of cIOS38. I am currently using rev14. I have read that rev15 and 16 are not very stable and that some people have ended up with Blask Screen of Death after installing. And there isn't much info on the stability of rev17. I was wondering which is the best/safest to install. Are the SDHC and DVDR-DL bugs correctly fixed in rev17? Is it as stable as rev14? Sorry for all of the questions. I am just curious and I don't want to brick my Wii, so I ask the experts. =)

You can chop and change your cIOS as often as you like. When you want to change to a different version just install it using the relevant cIOS installer, then if you want to try another just use it's relevant cIOS installer. I still use rev14 but rev17 I hear is good and stable. rev18 is not too far away either.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

I agree with Tealc, I have stuck with 14 as it works fine. Maybe I will upgrade if ever needed. Hopefully 18 will fix stubborn games.

I swapped to rev 17 and everything works fine with cfg loader, gx loader and neogamma.

Ive been using rev17 for a while now and haven't had any problem with it. Avoid rev15 and rev 16 cause they're not that great. If your unsure, stick with the tried, tested and true rev14.

So based on you're reactions, rev 17 seems to be pretty stable, at least not bricking consoles. I guess I'll try it out. I really appreciate all of the great feedback from everyone. Thank you very much.
