    Basically, no.

    Format it to WBFS format using the WBFS utilty, FAT32 is "mainly" for windows systems.

    For game backups; use wbfs.
    For config files, wiitdb, covers, themes, altDOLs, and cheats; use fat32


    Just so you know, you can make 2 partitions in one hard drive.
    It's possible to have some space on the drive as a fat32 and the rest as wbfs.

    This has been discussed and answered earlier, so if you search the forums you'll find it...

    As an SD Card replacement, yes. You can put all your USB Loaders on the FAT32 partition of the USB HDD and load via HBC or get the channels for the loaders. You can put all your HBC Apps on the FAT32 HDD if you want.

    Well that has confused me a little, I thought the new GX loaded from FAT now.

    I saw a table somewhere that states it can now load games from FAT32 and NTFS partitions. am I reading this wrong?

    Have you ever tried putting anything over 4GB on a FAT/FAT32 partition?

    NTFS - yes, but only ISOs, thereby wasting 50% of your hard drive on redundant padding.

    It's not as simple as that table suggests, so sometimes it really is best to KISS, keep it sweet & simple

    Well firstly I don't know of any Wii game that is over 4gigs when scrubbed so the 4gig is reduntant.

    His question wasn't the if's/why's and/or hows, it was 'is usb loader gx compatible with a harddrive format of fat32' to which everyone basicly said no, that was surely the wrong answer yes?

    p.s. I always use WBFS and will do for a very long time, I prefer the keep it simple approach too and love that virtually all issues have been combated in that format, I never jump into the new stuff until everyone else has made the mistakes I can learn from.

    So yes is the right answer after all, but still file size limiters on FAT32 prevail, however, it can be managed.

    Let's say it is not one that is recommended then, but yes is the answer!

    What is simpler than keeping a whole drive as fat32? No messing with partitions.... If you swap files on and off a lot you will want to defrag at some point, which isnt possible with wbfs, as the PC doesnt read it.. WBFS was only a stop gap til a workaround was found, it is based on Fat format.
    Configurable USB Loader or GX, on a FAT32 formatted HD drive (mine`s 500GB) used in conjuction with Wii Backup Manager is the easiest and quickest way to do things . Wii backup Manager is probably twice as fast as WBFS Manager, and it splits files over 4gb. SSMB works fine off FAt32 using this method(7gb).

    The only time a HD should be formatted to Fat32 is if it is small, like below 32 gigs. Once you format it to WBFS (the partition of the drive that contains your games MUST be this format), Windows will no longer be able to read it. Essentially, if you hook your HD up to your computer to put games on it, your computer will tell you your drive needs to be formatted for Windows to use it. This is not the case, load up a program like WBFS Manager, load the drive, and install or remove games.

    I, for instance, used a 150 Gig I had sitting around. I formatted it to NTFS, then formatted it to WBFS with WBFS manager. My computer no longer recognizes the drive and I have to use WBFS manager to put games on it or take them off.
