    Modded Wii + 4.2U

Hi, I have this little problem and I haven't found any solution yet, I hope someone can help...

Here's the thing... I have a USA Wii, modded with a chip (saddly, I don't know which one and I don't know how to find out that, I think it is a Wasabi, but I've downloaded the firmware update of that chip and it didn't work). A few days ago, I bought an 8 gb SanDisk SDHC Card and I tought that I could use it to install the HBC on my wii. After a few unsuccesful tries, I found out that the 3.2U version doesn't read SDHC cards, but 4.2U is, so I'd decided to give it a try (with some brick-fear, of course...).
After the internet update, the wii was working as usual, I was able to install the HBC and download a couple of things... but when I tried to put a game (backup) and play... it didn't work! I've tried with some of the other backups and nothing, the only thing working is Wii Sports (original).
I think that the update did it, so I though that a downgrade was the obvious choice, but it wasn't that easy... After a lot of reading, I've choosed what I thought was the safest choice: AnyRegion Changer (to return my System Menu to 3.2), but I wasn't able to make it work, I got a couple of errors before the program main screen, so it never started at all.
So, here I am, with a modded Wii that doesn't read backups and 4.2U...

What do you people think? Any other downgrade paths? Any other choice? I've paid for the modchip, so I want it to work, that would be my priority, but if there's any other (safer) way maybe I could give it a try...
Also, BackUp Launcher didn't work (it gives me a blank screen).

I'll wait for your answers, thank you all in advance!

Downgrading from 4.2 is not a safe option at this time and isn't recommended. You'll have to open up the console and look if you want to find out what modchip you have, then google for some pictures to find a match.

To get your backups playing through softmodding you'll need to run through the 4.2 guide (link below) to remove the stub files placed on your system by 4.2, and install the custom files necessary.

I can't open the console, I don't have a triwing and I don't know where to find it (I live in Dina Huapi, a small town in the Patagonia, eBay's not a choice downhere).

I'll try the softmodding guide now, and see what happens...

Also, any idea about why did it happened? I've read about region-locked modchips but I'm not so sure about it...

Thumbs up Modded Wii + 4.2U [SOLVED]

Well, I'll tell you what happened with this issue, just to give it some closure... at least for the moment...

I've followed the Softmoding 4.2 guide, step by step... the first time it didn't work, so I tried the alternative way (the part where it says: "If you fail at doing the above, you can replace steps B and C with steps 1 to 3 of this guide!!!!!!!"). By the way, the steps 1 to 3 of the alternative guide ARE NOT equal to the steps B and C. Once I've finished the steps 1 to 3, I had no cIOS249, so when I tried to run Neogamma, it said that I didn't had it... so after those steps I had to do step C again to install the cIOS249rev14... after I've done that, everything worked perfectly...
Neogamma and USB Loader channels were installed and also the 202, 222 and 223 IOS. I tried to run some backups and they runned, via Neogamma.
After the installation of the Priiloader and the activation of the mentioned hacks, I decided to read about what the other hacks were for and started experimenting...
It turns out that, after enabling "Disable 4.2U Disc Region Checks", the Disc Channel started working again!
So, it looks like it was easier than we thought... anyway, now I have a couple of "just-in-case" extra channels, and the miraculous priiloader.

Thank you for your help and I hope this helps others with the same issue!

Cheers to that. And to answer your earlier question, the 4.2 update kills out-of-region disc playing with modchips. Re-enabling it through softmodding was the only option to get them playing again, as you found out.
