Why does my Wii Clip + mod chip come with a wire + ribbon cable?

I just got my D2pro9 mod chip and the baggy has an extra wire and it also came withe a ribbon cable. I hope I don't have to solder, what are these for?

the ribbon cable goes to the outside of the console so the chip can be updated without taking it apart
the wire is just in case you need to remove the solder from the jumper and solder point J

dmak the ribbion cable is to update the modchip, and write new code to the actel chip which a dvd cannot do. The dvd can only write to the spi flash chip.

you have to get the d2prog then you attach the ribbion cable to on end and a usb to the other, and then update it with you computer.
