im wondering if anyone out there is successfully and consistently using any sata dvd writers for wii backups. i have seen the LG 8000 series that has been recommended but i am running a new monster and doing all sata.
thanks for any feedback or suggestions in advance.

I would reccommend verbatim DVD-R as they reduce wear on ur wii's laser and cause less problems... Its said that certain brands actually cause ur laser to break cuz of strain.
I like how both the above posts don't answer the question at all.
Anyway, I've been using a SATA LG GGC-H20L for burning Wii games and it's worked for me in the past, although now I load all my games from a USB hard drive. Whether a drive is SATA or IDE or USB or whatever really shouldn't matter, as long as you have quality media and a good image. The Wii laser seems to be quite picky, at least from my experience (not surprising as the Gamecube is the same way), but I've had many successful burns using my SATA burner.
Hail to the king, baby!
D2C2-equipped Wii + Wasabi V3 = I love Nintendo! (and big boobs)
I definitely agree about the verbatims especially for movie burns. I have an IDE Lg
now that doesn't work for the wii games but i will try that other model.
I also run ex hdd's but would like to burn to share with family that have other
wiis I have modded . Thnx guys
