Happy 2010 everyone! need some clarification and advise :D

Hello everyone! nice to be a part of this community.

but before anything else, happy new year to everyonE!

My sister and I recently acquired a wii platform, however, it only came with 5 discs included in the package (these were not original discs btw)

Tried to browse some hacking/homebrewing tips and came accross this warning:

Never update a region changed Korean wii.

Verified the wii, and it has LKM serial.

    1. How will I be able to modify Wii? or is it better to have the current version? its in 4.0u
    2. Will I be able to play downloaded games and do other hacking stuffs with the korean wii?
    3. Also been playing virtua tennis and avatar and for some reason, the game hangs up. wii says i need to remove the disc and reset the console.
Is this due to the fact that the platform is region changed korean?
    4. What are the things that is needed to be done in this kind of platform?
    5. never been this excited, tho i am afraid the platform might get bricked if I upgrade, or i am thinking that I will only be able to play pirated cd's which is more of a hassle than just downloading stuffs through web and be able to play it through an external device (usb or sd).

hope to hear from you guys soon. TIA

Hello and welcome to the wiihacks community. Take a look at the softmodding tutorial for 3.1-4.1 Wiis and you will see what is installed during a softmod. Do not update your Korean Wii that has been overflashed with 4.0U system menu by allowing Nintendo to update your Wii. That produces a specific brick with the screen capable of displaying only the error code 003.
