NeoGamma not working - for me

I'm on 4.2. I have run through the full modding guide. HBC OK, NAND backup OK, stub IOS done, Cios done 249 rev14, NeoGamma wad loaded & NeoGamma on HBC both run.
Problem is, I get a timeout on NeoGamma (mariokart & DK jungle beat) or it starts the game & then says that the game disc could not be read (DK jet race), wii hangs on super mario galaxy, even tried NeoGamma r8 beta 15 - DK Jet race hangs the wii, mariokart & super mario galaxy time out.

Annoyingly, Lego Indiana Jones works fine.

All these games work on a friends modded wii.

Where have I made a mistake?

What are you using to boot the game? DVD-R or a USB HDD?
    4.1E - Priiloader 0.3b - bootmii as IOS - cIOS 38 r15 - Triiforce MRC v.7 - MPlayer CE v.0.76 - Configurable USB Loader v.48 - WiiFlow v1.1 - SanDisk 2GB SD - 320GB Vertabim HDD
Please remember to hit if I've been of any assistance to you.

Playing WiiWare and VC Games off of USB/SD

From DVD-R discs - which work on a friend's modded wii. Tried from the NeoGamma channel and NeoGamma via HBC.
I could try running them from a USB stick or drive, (haven't tried that) do they need to be ISO/IMG or uncompressed?

    Welcome to WiiHacks,

Take the time to read the RULES! of the site, you don't wanna be sent to the Reading Room, or worse, Banned because you broke a rule of the site.

Got a mod-chip? Thinking about a mod-chip? Then go HERE! for many of the answers you're looking for. Just know that you can just as effectively mod a system without a mod-chip.

Please take a look at this link for any answers to most of your questions/problems New Member Introductions [thanks ShadowSonic]

Got a Bricked or Semi Bricked Wii? Then look no farther than THIS! thread for the possible solution.

BUT!!! Before asking a question please visit THIS!and THIS! thread..... [thanks FAVS & trekster]

If your on the 3.1 - 4.1 System Menu then you may want to start HERE! [thanks Dogeggs]

Wanna know what all this cIOS/IOS talk is all about....Then check THIS! thread out. [thanks Cressida]

Also take note that Nintendo has been putting some new drivechips in their systems that will disable playback of ANY burnt discs. To see if your Wii is one that has this new D3-2 chip refer toTHIS!page and cross reference your serial number. Please note that USB Loading is still functional even if you have this chip.

Want to find out a bit about USB loading, try THIS!link out [thanks gen3sf]

Any other questions/answers that were not covered, then please ask them HERE! [thanks ModderMan for the awesome site]

Please read, reAD, READ till your eyes bleed. Go over everything until your sure you can attempt these mods. You don't want a bricked Wii because of a step you might have missed.

    Have Fun! and Good Luck!!!!

Thanks S0ur, I followed the 4.2 system modding process, I've checked the new user intro & the error list.
I will try deleting and reinstalling neogamma.

Thanks Sour. I've softmodded 3 other wii's ranging from 3.4 to 4.1 all using the "uber guide" and all were successful. I've followed the same steps as before on a 3.4 model this evening and 95% of the time the neogamma R6 Launcher results in a timeout. It has randomly allowed a game to be played then fails when attempting to load the same game at a later time. When the load fails the drive makes a noticeable click that repeats a few times. (Note, all the games I ma testing have been successfully tested in other consoles)

This made me consider a hardware issue, so I have followed your link to the serial number database, which reports this Wii has a 25% chance of being a drive that won't load burned DVDs.

Since I have been able to occasionally load a disc, do you believe my results to be from a the new un-moddable drive chip? or perhaps something else?

sounds like drive failure, most likely lense is getting dirty or motor is failing.

The console is brand new (I only opened it 4 hours ago) and plays real games fine. Do you really think this is the case? If so what should we do?

Then you might be within that 25%, sorry buddy looks like USB loading is your only hope, way better imho anyway.

    Thanks for your reply.

Well, It is what it is. I just wish it was mine and not my neighbors. I know when I tell him he needs to buy something else, he is going to cry about $$.

Regarding this drive chip, do you think this is a permanent prevention mechanism, or perhaps someone will devise a clever way around it?

    Thanks again.
