Thread: Problem with USB loaders recognizing external hd

  1. #1

USB Loaders don't recognize external hd

    Hi everyone,

I softmodded my Wii using Dogeggs' tutorial. I went from firmware 3.1U and upgraded to 4.0u to 4.1U. I installed USB loader gx, uloader, neogamma, and configurable usb loader. None of these recognize my external HD (iomega 500gb mdhd500u value series). I checked the compatibility list and this one has not been tested. I have cIOS rev15 and have installed hermes ios222/223 trying a combination of merged versions as well as unmerged. i am also using the usb port closest to the edge.

Any clues as to how my external can get recognized? or should i retry to softmod it? Thanks for your help!

    Hi Techkid

I am using Gx loader and have had a similar problem. Have you tried booting gx loader without the drive connected and then connecting while it is busying searching for the drive?

Try to use the outermost USB port, or it could just be that your HDD is not compatible

so i installed usb loader gx unlr r600. when i run it on cios222, the hard drive's light blinks but it the program doesnt recognize the drive. when i run it on cios249, the countdown freezes and there is not response from the harddrive. must be a compatibility problem?
