try installing it again.
I have been trying to softmod now for a few days and I am getting frusterated. I have been following all of the steps in the 4.2u tutorial but I am not getting anywhere. I have formatted my card to fat32 and downloaded the first pack which installed homebrew, dvdx, and bootmii. I was able to successfully install bootmii as boot 2 on this unit.
Heres the deal......there is no bootmii menu and whenever I turn my wii off and then back on its just a black screen. If I take my card out my wii is fine. Anyone know why its doing this????
been there done that.......20 plus times now. Including downloading/redownloading the package and transfering it back and forth from my laptop/sd card and wii. Same thing every single time.
Remove the boot.elf file and Private folder from the SD card. You should now be able to power up the Wii to system menu. Keep the bootmii folder and NAND backup , if you made one in a safe place.
Edit-I'm sorry, I read the screen freeze that is seen when the Wii sees the boot.elf file and didn't notice that you also reported an inability to access the bootmii menu.
When you bootup if bootmii did successfully install as boot2 there should be two blinks of the LED lights. If only one blink or a whole series of them, bootmii is not installed and you will need to keep trying. After installing bootmii, the boot.elf and Private folder files cause the Wii to freeze as it sees conflicting commands-that's why I said to remove those files/folder. Sorry I missed your other complaint about no bootmii menu being available.
If you are unable to access the bootmii menu, that can be an SD card problem as bootmii is a bit fussy about that-use a regular SD card, not SDHC and not a mini with an adaptor. Format the SD as FAT32 on your PC, do not have any of the download files from the other Parts of the 4.2 softmod on that SD card-again-conflicting commands. Between each part-format the SD and then copy the softmod part to the SD-clean start each time seems to minimize some 4.2 softmod problems.
Thanks, I will give it a go.
try booting with no SD card in. if you see a brief set of flashes from the blue LED slot right after you power on, then try a different card...Make sure there is a directory called "bootmii" with the files "armboot.bin" and "ppcboot.elf" ..if not you might not have it installed

I JUST WANNA BE FREE THE BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE
OK I can boot up now with the card in but still no bootmii menu.
Should I just install it as an IOS and see if I can access the menu from Homebrew?? I guess then I will need a gc controller as well which I dont have.....I have a classic controller??
I do have blue flashing lights without the card in.
I just installed the entire package from the tutorials section. It said successful when I installed bootmii. So I may need another card?? I just bought this one for 30 bucks wholly crap this is going to run me dry.
