Thread: What can u do with a 4.0U?

    What can u do with a 4.0U?

Took a while but I found the firmware version on my girls Wii, it's a 4.0U. My question is I keep reading about 4.1 on this board so I guess it's still modable.

What can I do with it, as far as soft modding it? Thanks in advance I tried to search but I'm not getting it.

You can mod a 4.0u system just fine. Just follow the 3.1-4.1 guide in my signature below.

I believe the only difference between 4.0/4.1 was an official fix for wii sports resort (unrelated to any issues you'll read about here), but I'm not 100% about that.

Yes, just follow the regular guide on this site. As part of the guide you can use the safe updater to firmware 4.1. Alternatively, before you start the softmod, you can use any recent game such as New Super Mario Bros to update to 4.1. Do NOT do an internet update directly through the wii, as this will take you to 4.2.

    Bootmii as IOS

What is this safe updater? I checked around to see what this was but all I found was a guy who bricked his wii from something called Waninkoko, he admits its something he did not the actual gizmo but I don't want to get the wrong updater...My bed will be very cold if I mess up her and thanks for the quick replys too.

I personally have used this update as part of the 3.1-4.1 guide 4 times. You need a wifi connection and to make sure you install the ios60-patched as instructed before the updater. Follow the guide and you will come to the update option, it is not necessary but i do it to keep everything in compliance with the guide and have had no issues at all.

Again searching for the right sd card is not turning up the brand that will work with my wii, pny, sandisk designed for the wii...I want to get something cheep but functional any ideas?

Sandisk 2GB's have the best track record and highest compatibility/success rates. The Ninty branded sandisks are less so and more expensive.

I cant see what the first video says to do, its too small so i cant follow it. Is there a written instructions some where? Also I tried to turn off the connect24 but it didn't have that option in the settings it just gives the option to put in wireless.
