New install not working.
Hi, I purchaced the drivekey months ago and finally got around to fitting it today.
Once fitted none of my original games work. When trying to access the config menu by going into the disc channel and pressing eject 3 times, the dvd icon spins a a little while and I get a message "Unable to read the disc error".
I have confirmed this is fitted ok jtag to front etc, and double checked the dip switches (had to remove a plastic film cover off them 1st) , and the red light comes on.
Currently i have removed the Drivekey and my original games work again, so no fault on DVD drive.
The Wii is a couple of year's old and its got system 4.2E on it.
As i purchaced this a long time ago i can't really go back and ask for a replacement, so is there anything else i can do before throwing this in the bin and getting a new one?
First of all when you say your ORIGINAL Games dont work I assume you dont mean your original backups do you?
To access the drivekey menu you have to press eject 3 times at the wii system menu just after you are told to press A. You will then get the Gamecube Disk Icon showing in the disk channel and you click on that with wiimote to set options.
System menu 4.2 disabled playing IMPORT titles. You may be better softmodding if you cant get the drivekey to work.

I could kick myself for doing the system update, just hope that a work around is found. At the moment i dont have any import games so it is not a big issue for now.
I ended up buying a Wasabi dx last night. however if there is a chance that this is still working i can always sell it on.

Im going to give it one more try tonight.
Just tried again, the only thing i had a felling could be a problem were the dip switches as i was not getting a posative click when setting them. I ended up checking them with a multimeter jsut to prove they were actually set correctly.
I also tested it again as per DracUK comments and still no joy. Looks like its a dead chip. Suppose it can happen.
Thanks anyway guys, looks like I will just have to wait until the new one arrives.

Just received my new Drivekey (yellow sticker) the other day. It's DOA. No lights on Drivekey, can not enter menu, can not play any type of disc (error has occurred). Its a new wii with a swapped D2B drive and update 3.4u. I have been waiting for the sponser here to get back with me since Friday. Suxs @ss.
