Had in install softmod boot 2 as IOS priiloader wouldnt install is that normal?

Hi all just soft modded my new Wii system 4.1e

I used the right guide and everything worked fine apart from Priiloader wouldnt install?

Im not bothered about using it as I have homebrew channel and GX USB loader working fine.

Is it a sign of a problem and is it wise to try and get Priiloader installed?

    Many thanks

Priiloader is recommended on our tutorials for good reason. It's very useful as a brick recovery/prevention tool and comes only second to a bootmii/boot2 install.

Well the softmod guide worked just fine apart from the installing priiloader bit.

With everything else done can I now retry installing priiloader?

Or will I have to redone everything from the beginning?

    Thanks for your help

keep in mind when you have multiple threads. if i simply see the one thread and answer a question in it, and the other one has other important information about your sotmodding plight. i may miss some of these facts. just something to keep in mind.

I did two threads because the softmodding issues were different problems but I will bear in mind

I have bootmii 2 installed as a IOS I bought a new Wii today you see.

Would that have any bearing on Priiloader not installing?

Also with having boot 2 installed do I need Priiloader.

    Many thanks once again.

If the Wii is less than 18 months old you will not have bootmii/boot2 but the rather less useful bootmii/IOS in which case you will want to install priiloader.

I just redid installing priiloader and it worked now not sure why it didnt before.

I sent up the disc update block too.

Yes I did softmod last week on a old wii and it let me install bootmii as boot2 but with the new Wii i bought today had to install as IOS.

Not sure of the difference and what it means but thats to learn later i guess

    Anyways got it working now

Thanks very much for all your help its appreciated.

Sorry thread was bit confusing before I will be clearer in the future

Bootmii/boot2 = Excellent, almost faultless brick protection
    Bootmii/IOS = No brick protection.

Boot2 is a section of the Wii NAND that is executed very early in the boot process, like this.

    Boot0 (Part of CPU) --> Boot1 --> Boot2 --> (Preloader) System Menu

A Bootmii modded boot2 can start before System Menu.

A Preloader is attached to System menu so depends on it to operate.

So do not mess with your System IOS or menu.i.e. Themes.
