    Unmount USB drive

    Hi all,

Any idea how to unmount properly a USD drive? Usually I just turn the Wii off but I don't think is the right way to do it. I use Configurable USB loader if you want to know

    Thanks!

I think that's about the only way. None of the software has that level of control. I've been switching mine off for months now by using the Wiimote or Power button and the drive still seems to work just fine. The old hard drive issue where the heads could foul the drive surface if power was removed was fixed years ago.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Was looking for the same thing, not sure how safe that is.
Would be a good thing to add in the future

Confusion in terminology here, there is no reason whatsoever to unmount a USB device prior to the Wii, or the PC, being turned off.

I understand it may the PROPER way in *nix boxes, but even so the command has become a redundant command in recent times, an unnecessary procedure for sure.

Do not worry about just turning the Wii off with the USB attached, the Wii does not even know it's there, only the IOS knows it's there when needed.

Please remember your manners - say Thank You if someone helped , it doesn't hurt
