How do I update CIOS and USB Loader GX to new versions?

What is the proper way to do this for each?

Just get the cIOS38r14 installer and just run it. It will overwrite the older version you have. I wouldn't use r15 though, it breaks a lot of things that work in r14.

As far as USB Loader GX, just download the newest revision and re-place the boot.dol file with the newer one. http://usbloadergx.koureio.net/downloads/revisions

usb loader gx also supports online updates directly through the wii. If your wii is connected via wifi just go to the menu and hit update.
    Wii 4.1u Softmod
    cIOS38rev14 / Hermes cIOS 222/223
    Priiloader 0.1r15
    Bootmii as IOS
    WiiFlow 1.1r25 (autoboot)
    Western Digital MyPassport Essential 320gb

Ok cool, rev15 was the one I was considering but thanks for the heads up.

With regards to USB Loader, would the update option in the GUI do the same thing as manually replacing the dol file? The reason I ask if because I tried doing that, it downloaded something, and when you go to the credits page, it says I'm on rev 843 - but current is 849...?

Yea sometimes it won't download the "bleeding edge" revision, you will have to manually download it yourself if the online updater won't.

Great info, thanks a lot. One last [probably ultra stupid] question about USB Loader. I originally downloaded the 3D image versions and later also downloaded the 2D ones, but it seems I can't switch to those to see how they look. How do you switch back and forth between 3D and 2D? The only option I can find is how to DL them.

I believe there is an optiong to enable 3D images, if you uncheck it you will have your 2D images back.
