Thread: Is a USB loader faster/slower than a disc backup loader?

Is a USB loader faster/slower than a disc backup loader?

I can't seem to burn my DVDs so I'm considering buying a small external hard drive and just using a USB loader, I've heard that USB loaders are faster than disc backup loaders. Is this true?

By faster I mean like, running games smoother and stuff I guess.

I know that running games off a usb is faster then running of a burnt disc, burnt goes at 3x, USB goes at 8 or something, also burning to the HDD from the wii is ridiculously fast and easy.

plus you get to save your laser for when you want to copy a game to the HDD from an orginal disk.

I find the USB loading to be faster then the original disks in every way. Initial loading and during game play. WAY faster the backup loading off a DVD.

I must agree after having loaded burn disc's for over a year and then switching to a USB loader, the difference is noticable plus then you dont have to switch up the disc when ever you want to play a different game

It is much faster than loading from a disc and you can save your laser from going through daily wear and tear that the game discs cause.

The assumptions in this thread are correct. USB loading currently offers the fastest load times for the Wii console.

    Read speeds for the Wii:
    Backup Disc - 3x
    Original Disc - 6x
    USB HDD - 8x
