[SOLVED] Punch Out-- Black Screen with USB Loader GX
I've been working on getting my backup copy of Punch Out to work with USB Loader GX for a few hours now, but to no avail.
Here is the problem:
I load the game, and I get a black screen. Wiimote off, Wii on.
Here are my specs:
USB Loader GX Installed
ISO 36 rev 14
(and more, I can't remember them all off the top of my head but I swear I've got them all)
I'm in the US and have a US Wii
Using a USB External HDD formatted properly (all of my other games work fine)
I've seriously tried everything I can think of, and everything that's been suggested via multiple forums. I've also tried loading the game with Neogamma and it won't work that way. I'd really prefer to get it working on USB Loader GX because I like the UI more.
Yes, I have messed with the settings in the game load option, including forcing different video types, turning on/off vidtv, Error 002 is fixed (because it has to be for this game)...I've tried everything, I feel. I'm really frustrated about this because it's the first game I've had this much trouble with, and my husband really wants to play it!!
Any help will be appreciated!
[edit to add: Problem solved. After doing all that was recommended here, I went and got a new ISO for the game, and sure enough, it works now. Thanks to everyone who helped! Moral of the story: get your ISOs from reputable sources!]

you might need to either get a diff ISO or check the IOS version that it needs and maybe you need to update yours
Try this! it might make the game work fixed super smash brawl with it
most games starts working after installing hermes cios 222/223, have you installed that? if not follow the link below:
GAF's Wii Homebrew Tutorial: Hermes' Ios222/223
you can also download hermes-ios222/223 from usbloader gx site if you want but the link above ive sent is much clear and easy to follow.
I'm currently installing CIOS 36 rev 9 cause I heard that it would potentially fix it, but I'm also DLing a new ISO to see if that helps. The one I got before was from thepiratebay.org and I haven't really tested their ISOs that much, so who knows. Thanks for the tips, I'll reply again if I can get it working. =/

Yes I have installed Hermes' Ios 222/223, but should I try loading the game with those Ios's instead? Or should I leave it at 249 when I do the game settings?

Reason: Adding information
well its preferred to change to setting 222/223, but i just keep mine 249 i dont really change anything when i load my game, still works! keep your 002fix on.

Cios38rev14 is in my signature and is the latest. Also ensure you have the ios the game needs. There's a link about black screens in the You Failed to Search link in my signature as well. Black screen usually means you need the ios.
I tried to install the correct ios via that link (IOS53-64-v4113) using wad manager and it is not working still. I will double check that I have cios38rev14 installed (which I should, I only just did the softmod a week ago).

Okay I'll try doing that too (following the hermes instructions and deleting the iso). I didn't dl my softmods or programs from a torrent site, just the ISO itself for punchout. I always get my softmod/programs from reputable places like wiihacks or the homebrew wiki.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, so I'm trying to DL a new ISO from a "tried and true" site that I've gotten several of my games from--no more DLing from thepiratebay.org for games, that's for sure! -_- I appreciate all of the help from everyone, and if this new copy doesn't work I'll re-post. Thanks again!
Oh, also, I know that you said that this is not considered a "problem game" but I just wanted to make sure that even on 4.2 it's not a problem game, right?
