Thread: D3-2 drive, what stops it reading DVD-R

D3-2 drive, what stops it reading DVD-R

Anyone tested? Which component stops it from reading burned backups?

    Someone should try replacing:
    - only the laser
    - only the board

And see what's the culprit. Buying only a replacement board is cheaper than buying a whole "new" older model DVD-drive.

If I understand that post correctly, replacing the dvd mainboard solves the problem?

Unscrew two screws, disconnect all flat cables, desolder the wires (and remember where they were soldered to), replace the board and resolder all wires, flat cables, lastly add two screws.

Test firstly with original game and no modchip, if OK, add modchip.

Let me ask......As far as replacing the drive pcb where is the best place to get one and which one do you reccomend? Can you PM me your place of choice? If it is just some soldering and some screws and cables that sounds easy enough

ONE MORE THING....What modchip do you reccomend? Want to be able to pay all games from dvd-r etc..

Is there any way of modding a D3-2 Wii where the changes can be reversed and the warranty remain valid?

You have to take the Wii a part and replace the drive.
    OR
    Use an USB DVD.
    OR
    Use a USB HDD.

    THERE IS NO SOFT MOD.
