I doubt so, but most of everything on here explicitly warns against ever updating form disc you can block updates from disc I forget what the app is called, if you used the 3.1-4.1 softmod guide on here then it tells you how to

You should not update via disc as you will wipe any and all mods from your system that you have already done. The 4.2 update is especially tricky [and what you will update too if you use the big N's official online updater]. I've never had someone brick from one of these update, but I have heard some horror stories [most notibly from the 4.2 update (even on virgin Wiis)]

No games currently update to 4.2 using a Disc check I thought. But that might've changed. Like New super mario bros which just came out only requires 4.1 and it has that Disc check on it. It checks for firmware 4.2.

3.1-4.1 Softmod Tutorial (Works on all wii's!)

    Wii 4.1u | Bootmii (IOS) | Priiloader 0.2 (Rev 32) | HBC 1.0.6 | Neogamma R8 Beta 7 and Neogamma RC3* | USB Loader GX REV 919

Press the Thanks button if I have helped you in any way!

The DISC will not update you to 4.2, BUT the online updater from the big N will.

first of all load the original game through your backup loader once and play the game. The next time it should not display update available in the Nintendo Disc channel. As you have already played the game the system should assume that you have updated as well.
