Accidental upgrade to 4.2u from 3.x
I just got my first Wii. I played it a couple of times only. Today I decided I was going to load it with HBC and Backup Channel. I used a guide (else where) that said that I should upgrade my firmware if I was anything < 4.0 (It didn’t explain how)
At this point I upgraded my firmware using the built int functions of the WII. I am now at 4.2u. I can’t see the files on the SD Card. It just shows up with a question mark in Data management. Have I ruined any chance of me ever using the HBC and the Backup channel?
Thanks for any help you can give,

NO you didn't ruin anything, but now you must re-mod the console. In my sig is a link to MOD your 4.2 system.
Thanks for your fast response. Is this true even if my console was never modded before? I upgrade to 4.2u from 3.x without ever having installed any HBC or Backup channel before
I read that guide in your sig, and it says "Waninkoko's 4.2 SAFE updater is already out here, but it is not recommended that you update to 4.2 anyway. An online update will remove any cios you had on the wii!! You will lose the ability to play backups and load through usb! this is only for those who are already on 4.2."
This makes me beleive that my move to 4.2 will not load backup games
You will still be able to load backup games, I have both a 4.1 and a 4.2 system. With the help of the 4.2 guide, everything will be fine and back to normal.
