I was wondering if anyone has a tutorial for updating an already softmodded wii @ 4.1u to 4.2u.
I never installed bootmii, should I install it. also i am reading something about preloader. should or install it as well? I am seeing conflicting reports on this that you can't install it on an already hacked wii and some say you can.
when i first hacked it i used this guide
The Only Wii Homebrew Guide You Will Ever Need - Wii homebrew guide - Gizmodo
and it has been about the same since until i used waninkoko safe update to 4.1.
I am just confused about how to update to 4.2 because there are so many posts an it doesn't seem like the process is the same.
If anyone can help me do this it would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
I didn't update through nintendo. I know not to update my wii through nintendo. I am asking how to update an already softmodded 4.1u menu to a 4.2u softmodded system. All of the tutorials out there seem to be geared towards taking a virgin nintendo and hacking it.
What do you hope to gain by updating to 4.2?
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.
I would still like to use the shopping channel which i had updated to the 4.1 but since 4.2 is out you need to update it again it seems.
Avoid 4.2 like the plague. Its only reason for existing is to kill homebrew.
Ok so the whole reason for me wanting to get on the shop channel is that I recently bought a wii fit plus. I noticed somewhere on a youtube video that soemone had a wii fit channel i believe. So I wanted to check out the shop channel to see if it was there and download it. Can I just update the wii shopping channel or do I actually have to be on 4.2u to get into the channel?
If you load via disc, you should be able to boot from the channel. If you load via usb, the channel will not load the game and will instead tell you to insert the disc.
*Edit: I just noticed you said Wii Fit Plus. Same instructions apply, larger channel size than the original Wii Fit.
