    Do's and dont's

    Hi all,

Just bought the kids a new wii for christmas, i have read through the softmod guide a couple of times to familiarise myself with the installation. I have noticed a lot of questions from people getting it wrong..

What i need to know is do i install priiloader and not preloader

If my system is 4.1 do i still need to upgrade

Is there anything in that guide that i need not do

Sorry for being a complete noob

Priiloader is the most recent revision of Preloader, so yes to that.

If you're at 4.1 stay right where you're at. 4.2 doesn't have any additional benefit over your firmware, and was designed only to interrupt homebrew applications.

Follow the first link in my sig and you'll be on your way to playing backups in no time. Cheers.

    Couple more questions:

Using priiloader will my wii ever ask me to update ie the kids will be playing on the wii 90% of the time (when i am in work)

I want to use an external HDD, can i place games straight onto this (i dont need the original game)

    Thanx

Priiloader you'll need to disable online & disc updates with a hacks.ini file. (Google)

Yes you can, see the third link in my signature. (Loading and Playing Games from USB HDD).
