Why not just softmod and save the money? I'm softmodded and don't have any problems playing games?

Because sometimes thats just too complicated for noobs. If money is not an object, mod chips are pretty easy.

I might be wrong here, but don't most chip users end up softmodding anyways to be able to install missing ios's and things of that nature? (This isn't a rhetorical question. My knowledge of chips is very limited)

I forget why I softmodded in the first place, it wasn't to get IOS that's for sure and it certainly wasn't to play homebrew games.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.

Softmodding might not be an option....

I asked him if he would be willing to, and sent him this, he said he prolly not brave enough to do it.....heh

I have a WiiKey2 in mine, no need for homebrew yet....

Ok. I have my hands on a wii I got from a friend. He had it chip moded in korea. Pal Bricked it. I got it working it is 4.1 U no soft mods. Can I update to 4.2 via web and not soft mod it? By the way I fixed it with systems menu updater disc. it was 3.4u showing pal 3.4 r386 opera error.

don't update to 4.2. You see it every where on this site saying NOT to update to 4.2. So why would you just ignore all those warnings and try to update to 4.2?
Come to the Irc room to get help or just have fun

Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him, now you have a motivated idiot.
